The paediatric Emergency Department at Monash Medical Centre caters for children from birth to 19 years of age. The department manages children with all degree of medical illness and injury, is accessible by the public and ambulance service 24 hours per day, and currently sees 20,000 presentations per year. Children are assessed, treated and a management plan started in the emergency department, prior to transfer to the paediatric wards or intensive care unit. The staff are dedicated and friendly, and strive to ensure all children receive the highest level of care at all times.

Dandenong Hospital emergency department is a mixed emergency department that sees adults and children. The emergency department is currently undergoing rebuilding and a new facility with dedicated child friendly areas will be provided. Dandenong emergency sees about 10,000 children each year. The children are seen by the staff in the emergency department and if necessary discussed with the paediatricians. There are strong links between the emergency department and the ward paediatricians. Children can be admitted to the ward at Dandenong Hospital, but very sick children will be transferred to Monash Medical Centre Clayton

Casey Hospital Emergency Department is a mixed emergency department that sees adults and children. Casey currently has about 16,000 children present to the emergency department each year. These children are seen by the emergency department staff and can be admitted to hospital at Casey, but if very unwell will be transferred to Monash Medical Centre Clayton. Casey emergency also has a number of paediatricians who work in the emergency department , and appointments can be made for appropriate children to be reviewed by a paediatrician within a few days. There is close contact kept with family doctors to ensure the children receive the best possible care.
