Gastroenterology

The Paediatric Gastroenterology Unit looks after all aspects of paediatric and adolescent gastroenterology, hepatology, and nutrition.

It covers the entire netwok and surrounding areas, in all age groups from newborn to adolescents of school leaving age.

All endoscopy services are provided including gastroscopy, colonoscopy, and percutaneous endoscopic gastrostomy.

The unit has particular interests in inflammatory bowel disease, coeliac disease, oesophagitis, special nutrition and irritable bowel syndrome (including hypnotherapy).
 
There unit has close links  with other general and specialist paediatric units, adult gastroenterology, and allied health services especially Dietetics, Speech Pathology, and PEG outreach.

Outpatient clinics are held weekly; with all appointments made through the Outpatient booking system.

Patients may also be seen in private rooms.
