Ward 41 North provides tertiary level medical nursing care for children within a diverse range of specialities including General Medical (Paediatric A & B), Cardiology, Endocrinology, Gastroenterology, Neurology, Oncology and Respiratory, Renal, Rheumatology, Infectious Disease and Dermatology, ENT and Orthopaedic. There are 26 bedswith a nurse:patient ratio of 1 nurse:4/5 patients.

41 North is represented by all levels of nursing with a good skill mix. Associate Nurse Unit Managers lead each clinical shift.

Ward 41 North offers 5 graduate nurses rotations annually ensuring that new nurses are continually available in general paediatrics.

Over 60 % of the paediatric nurses hold (or are working towards) post-graduate paediatric nursing qualifications.

41 North aims to provide a high standard of family centred care to children and their families. Nursing staff are encouraged to maintain their clinical and theoretical skills and knowledge.

Ward based in services are run daily and cater for the current clinical needs of the unit. on 41 North, we offer extensive orientation and preceptorship for all new staff as well as providing the support of dedicated clinical nurse educators. All staff have access to an integrated in-service program, regular workshops and study programs, regular workshops and study programs, as well as opportunity to study at the post graduate level.

Rostering is provided on a partial self rostering basis that ensures flexibility whilst ensuring the clinical needs of the ward are met. Shifts operate between 0700 and 1500, 1300 and 2130, 2100 and 0730.
