Paediatric Audiology Unit

Infants graduating from NICU are at increased risk of hearing loss.

Recent evidence indicates that infants with chronic lung disease (CLD) are also at increased risk for late onset sensorineural hearing loss. A Paediatric Hearing Impairment Clinic established at the Queen Victoria Hospital in 19xx (?), relocated to its current location at Monash Medical Centre Clayton in 1987. Ms Kerryn Saunders, who is in charge of this clinic, trained for some years as a paediatric resident and registrar at the Queen Victoria Hospital. Another service, known as Victorian Infant Hearing Screening Program (VIHSP), is also based at Monash Medical Centre Clayton, where Ms Elizabeth Stewart is its area co-ordinator.
