An estimated 5,000 children in Australia live with juvenile idiopathic arthritis.

Juvenile idiopathic arthritis is the type of arthrits that affects young people. It can affect children as young as 6 months.

Currently headed by Dr Sue Piper at Monash Medical Centre Clayton, the Paediatric Rheumatology Unit runs a weekly unit. The Unit also runs a vasculitis clinic in conjunction with the Paediatric Renal Unit once every month. In addition, it runs a metabolic bone clinic several times a year.
