Acute and intensive care services expansion

Service enhancements

The expansion will include:

  • 10 new general children’s ward beds
  • 5 new Paediatric  Intensive  Care Unit (PICU) beds
  • 4  new Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) beds

Staging of works

The expansion will be completed in four stages:

Stage 1          Strengthening the foundations

Stage 2          Building the main frame of the new units

Stage 3          Opening the connections from the new extension to the existing building

Stage 4          Refurbishment and reinstatement of the 10 children’s ward rooms and upgrade of the front façade

The drop-off area will be relocated further around the driveway to allow for construction activities. Emergency department drop-off will be relocated to parking spaces opposite the multideck.
