Cardiovascular disease
Research in cardiology includes the assessment of vascular function in children and its relationship to the risk of cardiovascular disease in adult life. Risk factors for adult heart disease are being examined using collaborative studies with cohorts of preterm babies, and children at high risk of developing cardiovascular disease. Longitudinal follow up studies of teenagers who were once preterm babies are also used to define risk factors and assess clinical outcomes in this high risk population
