Nurses

Nurses work as part of a team in hospitals and other places too. They help with a patient’s treatment and make sure that they are comfortable. There are four areas where nurses usually work. These are:

  • Adult nursing
  • Child and adolescent nursing
  • Mental health nursing
  • Learning disabilities nursing

Nursing can be hard work! But it can also be great for nurses to see people get better and to know that they’ve helped them.

  • Clinical Nurse Specialists are expert nurses. They are trained in diagnosing and treating illnesses.
  • Nurse Consultants are nurses with lots of experience who work in research. They also help with education and training.
  • District/Community Nurses care for people outside of hospital. This might be in the patient’s home, GP surgeries or nursing homes.
