Creative Arts Therapists are located in the paediatric ward at Monash Medical Centre - Clayton, as part of the Play Education Department.Creative Arts therapy sessions are conducted on a one to one basis or in group settings. All patients admitted to the paediatric wards have access to the Arts Therapy service.
Through the arts, rapport tends to develop quickly between patient and therapist. Within this relationship a safe space of trust and respect is built. The emphasis in Arts Therapy sessions is placed on patient empowerment and the patient gaining control over his or her own psychosocial and emotional healing.
