Community support makes Monash Children’s Trivia Night a success

Two paediatric nurses from Monash Children’s, Amy White and Hayley Hubble, led the way in raising over $25,000 at a trivia night held on Thursday 3 June at the Clayton RSL.

The duo first decided they would hold a trivia night to raise funds for equipment and activities that would help make the children’s hospital experience better.

“We want to be able to make the stay of the young people that we care for less stressful. Some children are in for quite a long time and we wanted to be able to help make that time more enjoyable” said Amy White.

Amy and Hayley, while working night-shift in the children’s ward, initially aimed to raise $5000 but the event snowballed due to the wealth of support offered.

“The support we received was amazing. LJ Hooker, Clayton sponsored the event, the Clayton RSL provided the venue, Menora Foods supplied the snack foods, Allbern Printing and WeBrad Web Design for the promtional posters  and the business community donated gifts and vouchers for the silent auctions,” Ms White said.

“More than 300 people attended the night. They enjoyed a fun-packed trivia quiz hosted by Trivia Oz with silent and live auctions, raffles and fun activities. Thank you to everyone who helped make the night a success. We are looking forward to planning the next event,” ended Ms Hubble.

Professor Nick Freezer, Head of Monash Children’s was delighted with the success of the evening.

“When Amy and Hayley asked me to say a few words, I did not realise that I would be speaking to a packed room. The support and encouragement that Amy and Hayley have received is amazing. It is expected that this event will now be held annually,” he said.
