Ambassadors to pups - Oakleigh Monash Leader
FOUR lucky diabetes patients from Monash Children’s Diabetes Ambulatory Care Service (DACS) have been selected to be a ‘‘Junior Captain of the Day’’ at the Western Bulldogs’ home games during the AFL 2010 season.Being the junior captain at the games is their ‘‘thank you’’ for all the hard work and effort that they have shown as youth ambassadors for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Fund (JDRF).
Meluke Gunter, Nikki Cazaz, Wheelers Hill’s Paul Morrissey and Isabella Angelone have all held the mantra of youth ambassador for JDRF and have been involved in raising community awareness and funding for type 1 diabetes research.
All junior captains are presented with a Western Bulldogs outfit, including a guernsey, and a framed photo to remember the day.
Meluke has already run on to the ground, as junior captain during the round 1 clash between the Western Bulldogs and Collingwood, and says he is now a keener supporter of the Bulldogs as a result of his experience.
Nikki attended the round 12 game at the weekend against the Brisbane Lions, Paul will be in action in round 20 against Geelong and Isabella is looking forward to being the final junior captain of the year during the round 22 match.
