Monash Children’s Diabetes Ambulatory Care Service celebrate their Bulldogs Junior Captains
Four lucky diabetes patients from Monash Children’s Diabetes Ambulatory Care Service (DACS) have been selected to be the ‘Junior Captain of the Day’ at the Western Bulldogs home games during the AFL 2010 season.Monash Children’s Junior Captains will meet at Monash Children’s DACS on Thursday 3 June at 4.30pm for a team photo.
Being the Junior Captain at the football is the young people’s thank you for all the hard work and effort that they have shown as Youth Ambassadors for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Fund (JDRF).
Meluke Gunter, Nikki Cazaz, Paul Morrisey and Isabella AngeIone all hold the mantle of ‘Youth Ambassador’ for JDRF and have been involved in raising community awareness and funding for type 1 diabetes research.
Meluke, along with well-known artist Mary Schepisi, organised an art auction with all proceeds being donated to JDRF.
Paul was involved with Kids in the House in Canberra, with 100 other Youth Ambassadors, to lobby their local MPs, to help raise awareness of type 1 diabetes and the importance of research to find a cure. He was also involved in ‘Walk to Cure Diabetes’ another JDRF initiative to raise money for vital research, while Isabelle raised over $18,000 for research.
