Richmond Tigers bring a smile and cheer to Monash Children's

Members of the Richmond Football Club visited Monash Children's at Southern Health on 10 March for the launch of the Monash Children's Inaugural Footy Handball Competition.

More than 100 patients, family members and staff gathered at the Monash Medical Centre Clayton for the competition which aimed to bring Aussie rules football to children in hospital who are unable to play or go to games.

Richmond players Shane Tuck and Kelvin Moore were a big hit with the children and put on a great competition which also included Head of Monash Children's Professor Nick Freezer.

Following the competition Shane and Kelvin toured the children's ward led by Nurse Unit Manager Gina Ruwoldt and visited the bedside of children who who unable to leave their beds.

"We are very pleased that Richmond's Shane Tuck and Kelvin Moore are part of the Monash Children's first Footy Handball Competition. You don't have to look far to see how the children are really enjoying themselves and we are very proud to provide this opportunity to them which will now be an regular event, here at the Monash Children's", said Prof. Nick Freezer.
