Monash Children’s team all Heart
A strong team of over 70 runners and walkers are putting the final touches on preparations for the 2011 Run Melbourne event this Sunday, 17 July.The team of doctors, nurses, patient’s families and Monash Children’s supporters are raising money for paediatric medical equipment.
Southern Health Chief Executive Shelly Park who will be joining the team at the starting line said she was proud at the way everyone had come together to support such a worthwhile cause.
“We have had support from so many places, individuals and families. It really has been inspirational,” Ms Park said.
Neesha Bateson, mother of Benjamin, who spent many months at Monash Children’s Hospital after swallowing a battery said her family was proud to be part of the event.
“Ben received the best care possible and all the staff at Monash Children’s are really like an extended family,” Mrs Bateson said.
All money raised will go towards the purchase of portable heart monitors for the children.
