Playroom & Kids Activities

All wards have playrooms for the children, providing an area for play away from the children's room on the ward.

Qualified Play Therapists provide a range of activities and diversions for patients in either playrooms or by the bedside. Each patient is visited daily by the Play Therapist and activities are planned that are developmentally appropriate and, most importantly, enjoyable! The playrooms are regarded as "safe areas" for children where they can relax in a friendly, fun environment. To ensure this philosophy, no medical or nursing procedures are allowed to take place in these rooms.

We ask that no food or drinks be consumed in the playrooms. Adult company is recommended for children under three years. During after hours or weekends, there is a  toy cupboard with a variety of toys and games for loan while the Play Therapists are not available.

The play therapists are avavilable at Monash Medical Centre between Monday - Friday from 9.00am - 12.00pm and 2.00pm - 4.00pm.
